Rest & Relax at Ueno Park

I've been swarmed lately. Apologies to followers of my blog! : I How I wish we are in Tokyo now. Lin & I need a little break. The cherry blossoms are popping out anytime soon. :) We would love to pinic at Ueno Park. ;) It's a large public park next to Ueno Station. Ueno Park houses a number of museums, shrines and a zoo. It has more than 1,000 cherry blossom trees and is one of Japan's most popular spots for hanami parties. :D
We visited Ueno Park three times in a week last year. :)

The cherry blossoms made the streets in Tokyo so pretty! :)

Don't you love pink? ;) I absolutely DO!

Such a cute dog! *-* It was concerned about being stalked! Lol! :D

Such a brilliant idea to use the cherry blossoms as a backdrop to capture one's intricate masterpiece. :)

Who wouldn't love to pinic under such pretty trees? ;)

Remember to clear up after feasting! :)

The park gets crowded by late morning...

You might wanna try your hands at fishing! Lol :D

Do also check out the food stalls. :)

There's definitely plenty to do at Ueno Park! :)

Brunch at Domani Cafe

Yeah! It's Sat again! :) We love weekends. It's time to 'stone' a little ;) If you're clueless what to do today, you might want to do brunch at Domani. They serve Spanish Italian cuisine. :) Lin and I were there last week with Linda, a gf we haven't seen for a while. I like the clean & simple decor of the restaurant.

The little green touches enliven the restaurant. :)

Lin likes Domani's calamari very much. :)

The brunch menu is pretty good. There's a choice of main + coffee/tea + orange juice. Linda ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. :)

Lin and I were torn between pasta or pizza from the al la carte menu. After much deliberation, we decided to have a Hawaii Pizza. :)))

This left us with room for dessert! :D

Lin bought the restaurant card that entitles us to a 10% discount whenever we dine there. :) It came with two SGD20 vouchers. We should be going there more often now. ;) Oh btw, I just realized they serve English afternoon tea with biscotti, scones & sandwiches on three-tier trays. ;) Hm...can't wait to try it out with Lin & mom!

No. 7th Birthday Celebration!

Ann gave us a birthday treat at Shin Yeh Restaurant last Thurs! It was our no. 7th birthday celebration???!!! :D She opted for Chinese cuisine as she had too much pasta on her business trip. I had to crack my head as we didn't want to go to the usual Imperial Treasure Teochew Restaurant. Shin Yeh Restaurant was a pleasant change. :) It serves Taiwanese cuisine. ;)

The side snack Ann was munching on while waiting for us. :)

Lin and I love Taiwanese 菜朴蛋. It's much thicker than the Teochew's ones. But we found Shin Yeh's 菜朴蛋  a tad sweet...Bellagio's 菜朴蛋 suit our palatte much better. ;) Unfortunately Bellagio is only available in Shanghai...so we just have to make do. :)

菜朴蛋 goes really well with sweet potatoe porridge. I was so engrossed eating I forgot about my pics! Lol! :))))

We orderd salted eggs & pork patty. It was compressed very tightly. Do not be deceived by it's petite size...;)

On a healthier note, we ordered tofu & veg. :)

We were given complimentary peanut dumplings, twice. :D

Ann's dessert, almond cream with dough fritters. The waiter pointed out that there were only two dough fritters and not "many" as in the menu. Lol! :)))

Lin ordered mango shaved ice, which was kind of huge! :D Thumbs up for Shin Yeh's generous mango topping. :)

Last but not least, an interesting baked dessert! It's sweet on one side & savory on the other. :)

The Season of Cherry Blossoms!

In a few weeks time, cherry blossoms will be popping out everywhere in Japan. :) Yippee!!! Cherry blossoms - such pretty, dainty & delicate flowers. Lin and I were praying we would see God's marvellous creation when we visited Toyko last March. What a sight to behold! :D One of our favorite cherry blossom viewing places is the Merugo River. There are about 800 cherry trees lining the river. So if you're planning a trip to Tokyo this cherry blossom season, do remember to check the place out! ;)

A Steamy Affair ;)

We had our no. 6th b'day celebration over steamboat last Fri. Just the five of us. Sheau Wen, Ling Lee, Pauline, Lin and me. ;) Nice!

The eggs were perspiring even before we started dinner proper! Lol :)))

We had a fantastic spread! ;)

Here're the close-ups of our dinner! ;)

Lo hei with compliments from Pauline! :D

And our 5th b'day cake from Sheau Wen & Ling Lee. :) It was a raspberry & blueberry ice cream cake. Sweet indulgence! :)
