We're Not In the Big Apple

No, we're not in the Big Apple. :))) Sheau Wen and I just did a Monday brunch at Dean & Deluca Singapore. ;) It's awesome to do Monday brunches as we didn't have to queue to be seated or wait long for our food. :)

I was pretty pleased to be seated at Table 23. :) 23, my fav number! :D

Sheau Wen opted for a Chai Latte while I had ice ginger peach tea (hoping it would do my tummy some good???)

We shared an Egg Iberico which was basically 2 poached eggs with sautéed mushrooms, Jamón Ibérico and Hollandaise sauce on sundried tomato bread. I love everything but the Hollandaise sauce, which was blend...a big downside for this item.

We heart the Berris & Flap Jack. Fluffy oat & honey buttermilk pancakes with fresh mixed berries and Dean & DeLuca “Grade A” Organic Maple Syrup. Yum...

We took time to check out the retail store too. :) Spoilt for choice!

Gourmet grocery shopping in a small cosy outfit. ;)

There's stuff for everyone at home. :)

Buying just one tin of sugar in one colour isn't doing the coloured sugar any justice. They look pretty in the various hues together! :)))

Tea? :)

Some spread for my pancakes. ;)

Some granola for Lin's breakfast. :)

Some sauces for my pastas. :)

Some black truffles? :)

Some herbs & spices for my mains. :)

Too confused ... *.*

Oooo there's also a cured meat & smoked meat, and cheese section. :D

I'm already thinking of what to have & buy for my next visit. Ha! :D

Grandmom Turns 87

Grandmom's turning 87 and we celebrated it at Swatow Seafood Restuarant. :) It's wonderful to see her so healthy & active and surrounded by her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. We can't help but thank God for the blessings.

As in all traditional Chinese b'day celebrations, we had birthday buns! These were bite size.

Other items on Grandmom's B'day menu:

Assorted meat platter

Steamed pomfret in Teochew style

Steamed prawns

Chicken with dip

Assorted stir fried vegs with lotus crisps

Noodles with chives & mushrooms = plain noodles???

Mom, Beanie & I didn't managed to stay for dessert as we had to deliver some flowers. *.*

Lastly, some pics of my family. :)

Ice Cream to Cool the Summer Heat

It's Hot in Hong Kong. It's Hot in Tokyo (according to Lin). It's Hot in Singapore! *.* All I wanna in this summer heat is a scoop of ice cream! The hot & humid afternoon drove mom & me to Awfully Chocolate to get my ice cream fix.

As for mom, she had a Latte. :)

Simple Udon for a Troubled Tummy

My tummy hasn't been well the whole week, so much so I haven't have any cravings. Mom & I ended up at Tsuru-Koshi for a bowl of simple udon. The udon had a great chewy texture and the broth was flavourful. Perfect when one is under the weather.

We had onsen tamago and ebi tempura to go with our udons.

The portion is an awesome lady's size. It might be a little small for the gentlemen though. The Japanese boy at the next table needed two servings! Lol!

Desserts & Fries at Swensens

Lin still had some time before boarding the plane and so we headed to Swensens for desserts. :) This place eludes an old charm. We frequent it when we were little kids. :)

Sticky chewy chocolate is our all time fav. :D As for mom & Beanie, they shared Gold Rush. Oh and we had Swensens's signature fries & dips too!

Lin's Craving for Crayfish & Prawns Hor Fun

Lin had this craving she needed to satisfy before heading to Tokyo & San Francisco for work tomorrow. :) And so she had it. Crayfish & prawns hor fun from Tuck Kee Ipoh Sah Hor Fun.

It's the flavourful gravy & green chives which makes this dish delectable.

This is the queue at 11.30am, Tuesday...

As for dessert, we had almond soya bean milk and bean curd from our fav stall just behind Tuck Kee. :D A fabulous Tuesday with Mom & Lin. :)

Nostalgic Char Chan Tengs & Dai Pai Dongs

Wendy finally boarded the Star Ferry despite her umpteen times in HK. :))) It was her maiden ride and we were on our way to brekkie. :)

I love all the nostalgic char chan tengs & dai pai dongs we went to for breakfast this week. :)

Oooolala...the queue was looooooong...but it moved pretty quickly. :)

I heard so much about their scramble eggs and I just gotta try it! :D

The scramble eggs was moist and tasty. It goes so well with the toasted bread; soft and crispy at the same time. :)

The scramble eggs on toast overshadowed my all time fav...ham & macroni soup. :)))

In such scorching weather, hot milk tea is out for me. The ice lemon tea was a saver... *.*

Satisfying breakfast!

Xueyi brought us to one of her fav char chan tings, Lan Fong Yuen. :) Behind the little stall is a hidden gem. ;) Lan Fong Yuen is famous for their "stocking" tea. :))) According to Xueyi, every char chan ting mixes their own tea leaves to obtain their own signature teas. And only really experienced shifu is able to do it.

Lin & Beanie had the famous milk tea, Wendy & I had ice lemon tea and Xueyi had yuang yang.

I need to mention about the food here too. We love all of them. They were SUPER DUPER! :D

Succulent pork cutlet bun and ham & egg with ultra soft sandwich. Need us say more? :)

Forget about dieting! This French toast is too gooooooood to give it a miss! There's kaya spread in them.

The tomato soup noodle with pork cutlet & sunny side-up was fab too! :D Slurrrrrrrrrrrp...

Another awesome breakfast! :D

Sing Heung Yuen:

Sing Heung Yuen is Central's favorite dai pai dong and is known for their tomato soup base noodles. :)

We tried Xueyi's usual of tomato soup rice vermicilli with sunny side-up and beef slices while Beanie had tomato soup rice vermicilli with pork cutlet. The soup is richer than the one at Lan Fong Yuen.

On a side note, this dai pai dong has plenty of chipped bowls & plates. But I'm not complaining cos it just gives the place a whole lot more character. Don't you agree? :)

Their condensed milk bun and lemon honey bun were gorgeous too. Heart them... :)

Part of the reason I'm having insomia the whole week was due to tea overdose. *.* We had teas for breakfast, lunch & afternoon teas....

Snapshot of us at Sing Heung Yuen. :) Xueyi did the ordering of food and we just savoured its goodness. :)))
