Simple Mid-Autumn Nite

After a long & draining week, a simple mid-autumn celebration with close friends is all we need to unwind. :) Nothing fanciful, just some comfort dishes, mooncakes & erm...durians? Lol :)))

Steamed chicken with lettuce wrap

Chives & pork dumplings as well as cabbage & pork dumplings

The big distraction of the nite... :)))

Great catching up. :D

Purply Blooms!

See what we spotted this morning while cycling! :D Gorgeous cluster of purple blooms! :D

I went googling for it and tada...it's called the Jacaranda. :)

If we take time to look up and around us, it is possible to spot such beauties in Singapore. ;)

I wanna have this tree on our rooftop garden!!! ;) Say "yes", please Lin? :)

Mid-Autumn in Chinatown

Chinatown is all dressed up for the mid-autumn!

Never undermine these  simple, round paper lanterns. When stringed together, they dazzle. ;)

We're always captivated by little ones' doodles & paintings. What's more when their masterpieces are lighted up. :)

These two caught our attention. ;)

If you're yet in the mid-autumn mood like us, try going down to Chinatown to bask in some mid-autumn fun.

Nostalgic Birthday Celebration Over Hakka Fare

Stepping into Plum Village Restaurant (梅村酒家) takes one back into the 1970s. The furnishing, the cutleries, the floor tiles...Nostalgic

Aunty Peggy suggested celebrating her b'day here. Splendid recommendation indeed. :)

Chewy and flavourful Abacus Beads and Hakka-style Beancurd Skin Roll

Hakka Salted Chicken and Stuffed Beancurd in Brown Sauce

Steamed Meicai with Pork Pelly (we can down 2 bowls of rice with this!) and Fried Pork Ribs

Steamed Fish Drizzled in Special Sauce and Cabbage Meatball Soup

Stir-Fried Greens

Barley and Beancurd Sheet

To sweeten the evening, Shawn, Charlotte & Lixian got a mango cake for Aunty Peggy. :)

Oh and not forgetting to mention, a complimentary Hakka recipe book for Aunty Peggy from the restaurant owner, which erm...is now mine. :))) In Shawn's words, "You'll put it to better use". A subtle hint to cook them something. ;)

Where Did Our Fav Egg & Tomato Handmade Noodles Go?

Lin and I missed Yang Gui Fei's egg & tomato handmade noodles. But it's no longer on their menu! Where did it go? :(

Anyway we tried other stuff on their new menu:

- Marinated spicy chicken and seafood tofu soup.

- Handmade noodles with braised pork cubes...Loving it! :D

We're happy with this much needed energy booster for the rest of our Wednesday afternoon! :)

25 Hours in Singapore

Xueyi only has 25 hours in Singapore. Taking away 6 hours of sleep, she has effectively 19 hours to enjoy Singapore!

Koka and Xueyi took some minutes in the morning to bond! :D Xueyi's normally pretty stern with her, but seeing a three legged Koka soften her a bit. Lol! :)))

9.00am: Hearty breakfast at Canopy, Bishan

We wanted to bring Xueyi here the last time but the plan was called off due to a heavy downpour. So thank God for the perfect weather.

Earl grey for Lin & I and coffee for Xueyi & Mom. :)

We shared a Japanese pancake which was basically a regular pancake atop with salad, bean sprouts and mushrooms. Not sure how Japanese this was but it was quite good. :)

Of course we had our fav egg benedict! :D

Thumbs up to an awesome and relaxing morning! :)

We rushed mom to her office after breakfast. :)))

11.00am: Check out our new house

Our new house is not ready yet. It'll be Xueyi's holiday home when she's in Singapore. ;)

12.00pm: Lunch with Beanie at Boon Tong Kee

Our lunch selection for Tuesday. :)

Steamed Hainaese chicken rice. :) The roasted one wasn't available.

Fried tofu and 3 egged spinach

Beanie, Lin & Xueyi - I was behind the camera. :)))

2.00pm: Shopping with Xueyi at ION Orchard and Wisma

Xueyi only managed to get a pair of corduroy pants after trying numerous others. I got myself a jacket. ;)

Lin headed back to her office for cooking lesson with Chef Eric Teo. They were cooking chilli crabs!

5.30pm: Foot massage at Cheng Kang, MyVillage

6.30pm: Dinner at Chomp Chomp with Mom & Beanie

Fried Hokkian mee and fried carrot cake

Chilli crab cooked by Lin and grilled stingray

Satays and chicken wings

Popiah and fried cockels with bean sprouts

Us at Chomp Chomp. :)

8.00pm: Back home for Xueyi to shower and pack

9.00pm: Off to Changi Airport

10.30pm: Check in

10.45pm: Board the plane to London

So that's about all for Xueyi's 25 hours in Singapore! :D

Checking out Kallang Park Connector with Ling Lee

Ling Lee suggested we check out the Kallang Park Connector this evening. Lin & I felt so foreign here! Lol! :))) Anyway it's good to be on a discovery mode at times. :)

Dinner was at Nan Hwa Chong. :)

Our excitment was marred by disappointment. The grouper was too dry. *.*

Salted eggs pork rib. The curry overpowered the salted eggs.

Dessert was at Fika. :) We shared a Kladdkaka (Swedish brownie) with vanilla ice cream and fresh berries compote and a pot of chocolate truffle mint tea. :)

Riding in the Wagon

We got this really cute pull-along wagon from The Better Toy Store for a client. It's so cute we gotta put Koka & her toys in it for some pics! ;)

Heart the bright green crate & yellow wheels. :)

Koka's soft toys collection has grown exponentially over the years. Most of them are given by friends, hand-me-down from our childhood or freebies.

A little joy ride for 3-legged Koka. ;)
