Koka's 1st Cycling Trip with SW

Ling Lee, Lin & I took SW & Koka for a cycling trip at East Coast Park this evening. It was a jolly workout for the three of us! ;) SW & Koka enjoyed themselves too! :)))

And Koka stole the limelight.... the four of us were just backdrop....

Brunch at Arbite with a Bruised Forehead

I had a freak accident yesterday...hit my head against my car while trying to get into it, which resulted in the car door slamming into me. The damage: bruised & cut forehead...It's not stopping me from going out though. :) We're doing brunch with Pauline at Arbite today. :) It's funny how we are here every week but never check out the place. Well, it's never too late eh? ;)

We managed to get a corner table even though we have no reservation. Hah! :D Sweet.

Perhaps we were seated next to the window, or perhaps the place was packed. We felt hot. *.* Some icy coolers to bring down our temperatures before we start our meal. :) Lin & I had Sanpellegrino's Pompelo and Pauline had a ice mocha - her 1st coffee fix for the day.

Arbite serves egg benny on foccacia. :) A little nice change here from the usual muffin base.

And Truffle Beef Burger. :) Juicy beef patty. If only we could have french fries instead of wedges...it's a personal preference. :)

I'm loving my weekend, other than the bruise & cut on my forehead that is. *.*

Dumplings, Wrapped with Love ;)

Tada! My dumplings (Bak Chang) wrapped with love. :) What do you think of my first attempt?

I've gotten all the angles I think... :)))

Check out what's in my edible pyramid? :) The good thing about making your own dumplings is we can add all our fav stuff & do away things we dislike. I reduced the amount of glutinous rice too. Dumplicious? You bet...it's homemade with love by me. ;)

New Zealand Fare at Blackbird Cafe

Three sleepy heads did dinner at Blackbird Cafe on a Friday evening. If I can recall in my sleeping mode, the cafe ambience was pleasant and the food was simple but good.

Lin & I needed a perk-me-up drink, and so Lychee Sodas for us please. :)

Comforting mushroom soup and well toasted bread to start our meal. :)

Patrick and his vege sandwich....as healthy as he can gets. :)

Lin and I shared a Seafood Risotto of scallops & crabmeat. :) Eaten best when hot...otherwise it gets fishy...

The seafood spaghetti consisting of shrimps was pretty yum.

Blackbird Cafe is actually quite a nice place to unwind after a long week at work. :) We were comparing who had the darkest eyes bag! LOL. *.* Happy weekend!

Strangely Good Savory Pancakes

I look foward to lunch with gfs on a weekday because it's rarely they take time off. :) Wendy & I finally found time to try out Strictly Pancakes. :)

We're more of a sweet pancakes people than savory ones. However Strictly Pancakes' Garlic Butter Prawns Pancakes was strangely & surprisely yum! The garlic buttered sauce was thick but not too overwhelming. Couldn't help cleaning the plate of sauce with the fluffy pancakes & rocket leaves. The prawns were succulent. :) I'm giving savory pancakes a second chance. ;)

We weren't awed by The Druggie, which was basically three chocolate pancakes served with chocolate ice cream sprinkled with chocolate flakes and sliced strawberries topped off with their own homemade chocolate sauce.

The servings were too big. We didn't wanna waste food but 6 pancakes for just the two of us was just over.... *.*

Father's Day Treat at House of Seafood

Lin suggested we try out the best pepper crab in Singapore at House of Seafood. She chose the place instead of Beanie? We should be celebrating Daughter's Day instead! Lol! The weather was excellent for al fresco. :) There wasn't much of a wait, to our pleasant surprise. :)

The secondary dishes fared much better than the star dishes.

The stir fry spinach with garlic was very well done. :) Not over cooked and not too salty.

The crispy beancurd with chef's special sauce was worth a try. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The pork floss complimented well with the beancurd too.

We like the fact the restuarant served the non-messy dishes first. :) Thumbs up for the mee goreng. Not too spicy yet flavourful enough.

The pork ribs with honey sauce would have scored if it's less chunky.

The prawns with fragrant butter was below average. :I It wasn't as fragrant as it was intended to be.

And may I introduce the star dish - black pepper crabs...disappointing. :( The crab meat wasn't firm at all.

The chilli crabs were underwhelming too. The flavour of the gravy wasn't intense; in fact it was diluted.

Lin was fascinated with the restuarant's name imprinted on the buns. :) You can't go wrong with these sweet buns. :)

Stir Fry Black Pepper Beef Cubes

I love to have my plain gruey congee with these tender & juicy stir fry beef cubes. :) So simple to create but amazingly delish. :)

Ingredient:
200 - 300g of beef cubes
Sliced garlic

Marinade:
1 tsp light sauce
1 tsp dark sauce
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
3-4 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp water
1 tsp corn flour

Seasoning:
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp light sauce
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp cornflour
1 tbsp water

Method:
Marinate the beef cubes
Heat up the pan, fry the garlic till it's fragrant
Add the beef cubes - High heat
Add seasonings and combine evenly
Sprinkle more ground pepper - optional
Serve!

It's up to you if you wanna the beef cubes to be well done, medium well, medium, medium rare or rare. :) We like ours medium well.

A slurp of congee and a bite of the beef cube...yum... :)

Crepe & Such at Saybons ;)

I'm in the mood for crepes. :) Where else but at Saybons. ;)
We chose our own fillings of ham, mushroom & cheese. A classic and ultra yum combination. :D Love.

And we shared a cup of Seafood bisque. Thick, creamy & flavourful... :) Monday can be this good! :)

Sunday Tea at Awfully Chocolate + Mooshi Bakes

Yahui asked us for lunch today. :) It's such a blessing to be lunching with closed ones.  We had some fishballs noodles at a neighbourhood food centre & headed to Awfully Chocolate + Mooshi Bakes at Greenvich for afternoon tea. :)

As usual, mom & Yahui needed their coffee fixes.

Yahui - Long flat
Li/n - Hei Gato (Coffee & Awfully Choc's signature ice cream) I chose it cos it's listed as the best seller on the menu board!
Mom - Cappuccino

An example of a simple bake at its best - Mooshi pandan tart. We heart it because:
- it's so local with a twist, in the form of a tart
- it's a plain Jane
- it's not too sweet

Lin's choice - Hazelnut crumble... kinda messy....it crumbled everywhere...

I love impromtu outings. :) So effortless yet fun! :) Glorious Sunday one & all! :D
