Another Birthday Celebration for Us and Sam

My ex-colleagues celebrated Sam's and our birthday on Thurs! :D The food was good, the company was better! ;) Dinner venue: Sun with Moon Japanese Dining & Cafe.

We took some time to decide what to have. :)))

Donovan was in the mood for a glass of whisky. So give the man his drink! ;)

Lo hei was a must at Thurs' dinner as Sam who hails from the States had never experienced it before. We ordered the salmon platter. ;) I was surprised that the lo hei was pretty economical. And this was not at the expense of the quality and quantity of the ingredients.

The other stuff that we had ;) :

Foie gras.

Beansprount & beef. :)

Chawamushi. :)

Vic & Al said cheese :) It's like eating pizza's topping without the base. Thumbs up!

Tontori ;)

Salmon Kamameshi. :) Time capsule...

Chasoba. :)

Donovan's main. He spent some time picking bonito flakes. :)))

Simon & his self-portrait. ;)

Birthday cake for Sam, Li & me! :D Awfully chocolate!

A BiG Thank You to Allison, Vic, Donovan, Sam & Simon for a wonderful celebration! :)

By Invitation Only

Lin and I were invited to an undisclosed location for dinner on Wed evening. :) How mysterious eh? :))) Anyway, I'm calling this place, K&A Bistro. The weather was perfect for al-fresco.

We were surrounded by lush greenary. :)

Local cuisine was being served that evening. :)

Lin has a thing about homely bee hoon. ;) Is the bee hoon homely enough Lin?

When there's bee hoon, there's usually curry. :)

Stirred fried veg.

And a not so local dessert. It's not a souffle...it's lemony. :) I don't know what it's called, but it's refreshing after a rather heavy meal...

The only feedback I have for this bistro - improve the lightings! ;)

K&A Bistro is a nice place to chill after work! ;)

Take a Back Seat Ms. Diet, It's Time For Peking Duck!

It's alright to indulge once in a while. :) I mean A While. So when we read the papers about a new peking duck restaurant in town, we decided to give it a try. After all Beanie's giving us a b'day treat. ;) Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck Restaurant is a sister restaurant of Imperial Treasure Teochew Restaurant, our fav Chinese restaurant. :) Angie warned us about bad food and service when she called to sing happy birthday. Perhaps she lowered our expectations. We were delighted with the dining experience.

The Peking duck skin was crispy, the duck was succulent and the handmade wrap was just nice,  with no powdery aftertaste! :D

The chef's recommendation, wasabi prawns made Mom, Lin and Yahui tear! :)))

We also tried claypot soon hock and tofu which weren't on the menu. :)

The cabbage and Chinese ham was simply fabulous over a bowl of steamed rice! :D

As it was our b'day, we order preserved veg & shredded pork crispy noodles. Yum!

We didn't cut our birthday cake at the restaurant as planned because we were overloaded. We adjourned the cake cutting till later at our cosy nest.

It was Guarnaja from Rive Gauche Pattisserie. :) I love the biscuit base. Koka would like a bite too! Lol :)))

We would visit Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck Restaurant again if there's craving for the yummy duck. We like the personlized service too. :)

A Not So Global Kitchen

Vicky and Yvonne gave us a birthday treat at Global Kitchen at Pan Pacific Hotel on Mon. The four of us looked forward to a great evening of feasting. Unfortunately the buffet spread and the quality was below average...I think my photos make the food seemed really delicious. So friends, please give 80% discount to what you're seeing here! :)))

We walked around and decided to start with something light. Diluted mushroom soup, so-so bread roll, prawns and ebi sushi.

Doesn't the food remind you of home catering?

Hawker's fare is way way better...

The pasta wasn't too bad...

Desserts were blah...

They need to work on their service. Lin requested for a dessert fork and the reply was the dessert forks are at the dessert station. The waitress went on to enlighten our picky housekeeper on the difference between a normal fork & a dessert fork! Lol :))) She needs to visit our kitchen. ;)

This will be our first and last time to visit the place. You need to try it out to understand what good really means. ;)

Threesome Birthday Lunch at 향토골 (Hyang-to-gol)

Edwin's b'day falls on 21st Feb while ours is on 23rd Feb. So his lovely wifey, Wendy suggested we celebrate our b'days together on 21st Feb. :) I recommended our fav Korean restaurant, Hyang To Gol for the b'day luncheon. :) A company of 6, including Angie & Tina is great as we get to try a variety of Korean dishes without overstuffing ourselves. :D

Tina greeted us with cute b'day cards she bought from Taipei. :)

We began our Korean dining experience with an array of side dishes. :) Wendy and Edwin gave out red packets. The benefit of being single? :)

Chilled kimchi soup was also served. Refreshing! :)

We ordered a seafood pancake, :)

marinated pork, beef & chicken for BBQ. :D

You could eat the BBQ meat with crunchy greens or steamed rice. ;) Either way is good!

We also ordered Soodubu and Ginseng Chicken Soup. Yum...

As it's still the lunar new year period, we order nian gao (rice cakes). They were very Q :)

We were stuffed but it wasn't the end yet. Angie bought us an Opera cake. :D

It was a fantastic b'day celebration! :D We were FULLY contented! ;)

Ginger & red date teas were served to aid our digestion... :D We skipped dinner that night. :)
