Day 4: A Taste of Huaiyang Cuisine at Plum Garden (梅苑)

Plum Garden Nanjing is famed for its Huaiyang dishes (淮扬菜). I tried googling to have a better understanding of this cuisine and learned something new today. :) Huaiyang cuisine is considered to be amongst one of the Four Great Traditions (四大菜系) dominating China's culinary heritage. The other three include Cantonese cuisineShandong cuisine and Sichuan cuisine.

Huaiyang dishes are light in flavor & suit us pretty well. :)

Day 3: Nanjing Dapaidang (南京大牌档)

Nanjing Dapaidang (南京大牌档) is distinctive for its huge & many lanterns. :) We were here for Nanjing cuisine! :)

The resturant was crowded on a Thurs evening! We plonked ourselves in front of the stage, hoping to catch some traditional performance. Alas there wasn't any. :)))

Braised eel was quite delish :)

Day 3: Hot Spring Indulgence at Kayumanis Nanjing

Apparently mineral baths are one of Nanjing best kept secret. We checked out the most luxurious resort in town, Kayumanis. It boasts 20 private villas, each with its own personal hot spring bath tubs and mini pool in the courtyard.
We chose Rose Finch Villa.

Afternoon tea...

by the pool... :)

We had breakfast served to our doorstep the next day. For a Conde Nast listed hotel, the service wasn't what we had expected. :( Firstly, they got our breakfast order wrong. Secondly They forgot to bring the iron over too and when we asked them about it, the staff said she wasn't sure if they have an iron.

Morning dip into our courtyard hot spring bath tub. :)))

The temperature of the water is hot! Hot! Hot! *.*

Hot spring bath on a sunny day. :)

Tina & I were jumping between the hot spring bath & the pool which was icy cold! : /
