I've read so much about Changdeokgung and the beauty of its Secret Garden during autumn. So to be able to visit it this autumn was yeah yeah yeah! :D
Changdeokgung means "Palace of Prospering Virtue". It is designated as a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO in 1997.
There are five palaces in Korea and we managed to visit two of them for this trip. Not too bad! :)
Changdeokgung is especially pretty during autumn.
Some restoration works were being carried out while we were there.
Here're pics of us. :)
To experience the full splendour of Changdeokgung, one needs to enter the Biwon "Secret Garden". Access to the 78 acre rear garden is only feasible through a guided tour. It's worth every 5,000 won. ;)
Because it's autumn, the guide allowed us to roam the garden on our own. This is good for people who love taking pics. :)
Needless to say, we were awed by the beauty of nature. :) The architecture of the palace blended in harmoniously with it.
We were surrounded by red, orange, yellow & green... :O
Every piece of leaf is special in its own way. :) We have the glorious yellow,
and crimson red.
I want to capture everything...every trail we walked on...
every pavillion we saw...
Mom & Beanie looked fabulous under the autumn leaves. :)
I would have taken more pics if not because I had only one bar of battery left & I needed to conserve for our next destination... *.*
The 5 of us enjoyed our tour of Changdeokgung & its Secret Garden. It's past 1pm by the time we were ready to leave for lunch! No wonder our stomaches were protesting. ;)
Btw, Changdeokgung is also within walking distance from Rakkojae. ;)
