To Vietnam in Less than an Hour :)

Lin needed to right a dinner went wrong & we found ourselves at Wrap & Roll. Ha! Back in Vietnam in less than an hour! :))) Hoa had introduced this Vietnamese chain to us when we visited her in HCM & we liked it.

Grilled pork in steamed rice paper rolls was delightful.

It lifted our mood by quite a bit. :) We were more excited by every dish brought before us than our earlier dining at Magosaburou.

Rice noodles with grilled pork, chicken & deep fried spring rolls was gratifying. Wendy & I love the flavorful spring rolls.

The Vietnamese fish noodle soup was comforting too and we heart the broth.

I must admit we were awed by the size of the crispy crepe with prawns, pork, bean sprouts & mushrooms but it was too oily for my liking.

A surprise from the gals. :)))

Being 3?

Well...not much of a big deal. :)))

Magosaburo at Its Worst *.*

I thought we would enjoy our dinner at Magosaburo tonite with Tina & Wendy. After all we did have an extremely awesome one during Mom's birthday last year and we tipped them for fabulous service.

This evening, it was the complete opposite. :( The service staff wasn't up to standard at all. They weren't attentive and weren't able to recommend to us what to order for our dinner. It was a total disappointment.

We decided to adjourn after a few dishes.:

Rib Eye

Chicken & Berkshire Mangalican Pork Belly

Garlic Fried Rice

Wendy must be thinking...such lousy recommendation. *.*

I wonder why I even bother to post the following...

Comforting Food at Etna :)

Pauline & I were deliberating which Italian restaurant we should go & we finally decided on Etna at Duxton. :) The experience was a pleasant one. :)

We started our lunch with a juicy, cheesy Calzone. :)

Lin & I really enjoyed this seafood linguine. It was a special of the day. The ingredients were o' so fresh! :D

We helped Pauline to polish off the Linguine al Granchio -
linguine with crabmeat and soft shell crab in lobster bisque
:) It was a little heavy for my liking though.

I love the sweet surprises Pauline arranges us for us every year. :)

Millefoglie Etna - caramelized puff pastry layered with cream and chocolate custard was amazing, I think I would be going back for more. :)

A bit of this & a bit of homemade vanilla ice cream made this lunch perfect. :)

Happy... :)))

Simple Thai Fare at Nara Thai :)

This evening, Yvonne & Tommy treated us to a simple but delectable dinner at Nara Thai. :)

Being newbies here, we selected assorted Nara’s Hors d’oeuvre just to try a bit of everything. :)

Thai Mango Salad for all but moi. :)

Tom Yum Kung - river prawns in spicy lemongrass and lime soup was titillating.

The Crab Meat Omlette looks plain but it's actually my fav. :)

There were two misses though. The Green Curry Chicken was a little disappointing as the chicken fillets were a little tough. *.*

The Stir-Fried Morning Glory was a little too salty.

Still, I enjoyed my dinner on the whole. :)

I would love to have the lime juice with grass jelly Lin was having if I wasn't coughing. :(

Sweet things need to be shared. :)

Mango glutinous rice (I heart sticky rice, not the mangoes)

Tapioca drizzled with coconut milk

Thank you Yvonne & Tommy for the b'day treat. :)

Our 2014 Lunar New Year in a Nutshell :)

Despite our busy schedules, Lin found time to beautify our house with CNY decor. :) Thumbs up for her efforts!

Our cherry blossom tree bloomed in time for the lunar new year too. I would love it even more if the flowers were in darker shades of pink. Pretty nonetheless. :)

We did managed to capture some pics with grandmom after all. ;) I heart the selfie with grandmom. She looked cute in her black framed glasses. I've something similar too btw. :)))

Two other highlights of our CNY

Annual affair 1:
Sheau Wen, TG & Joanna came over for a steaming dinner. :)

Annual affair 2:
CNY luncheon with our gfs & their babies :)

I wish CNY could be longer...the holidays never seem enough. *.* I'm looking forward to the next lunar new year already! :D

大年初一!(First Day of the Chinese Lunar New Year)

Off to grandmom's home on the first day of the lunar new year. :D Yippee!!!

She's getting on in years and hardly has the strength to make yam cakes for the family. While we wait for someone to master the skill, we make do with these which Aunt Peggy bought. :) Lin & I simply love the charming plates that Grandmom has for years. I'm quite tempted to bring them home. ;)

Our annual family photo taking session. Missing a lot of our loved ones here this year. *.* A number of them are overseas. As for grandmom, she was taking her afternoon nap. Duh. :)))

This year, Koka has to share everyone's attention with her "little" cousin, Ringo Chen. :D He's twice her size by the way. :)))

We wish all our loved ones a very blessed lunar new year! 主恩浩瀚,主愛融融!
