This is the first time we do reunion dinner with our maternal family on Chinese New Year's Eve. :) This is also the first time we are having buffet for reunion dinner. :( We, the cousins, very much prefer the traditional sit down dinners.
The buffet dinner was at Park Royal on Beach Road. It's a mass dinner with different groups of families, held in a ballroom. It's so noisy.
There were stage performances too. But the progams were weak. Instead of singing Chinese New Year jingles, the singers cum MCs were belting out mandarin pop songs. *.* It's feels like a 7 month festival dinner instead. Utterly noisy. The lion dance and tea pouring performance was perhaps the only items relevant to Chinese New Year. We didn't really like the Fortune God throwing chocolates either...We had to duck to avoid being hit... *.* It rare for us to gather for dinners and buffet dinner and such performances makes communication almost impossible. We needed to shout across the table.
二姨, can we switch back to good old sit sit down dinner with set menu in a restaurant next year? :)
