This morning we are heading to Yoshinoyama in Nara. :) We are going to hike Mt Yoshino, most famous for its mountain cherry blossoms.
We grabbed ekibens from the combini at the Shin-Osaka Station. Is eating on train permissible in Japan? : /
Rosu-katsu(loin cutlet sandwich). I prefer the bread to be softer.
Our route on this rainy morning...
The rain doesn't look like it's going to stop any time soon. We have to scrap our picnic plans and finish off the rest of our ekibens at Senbonguchi station.
This is mom's Hippari-dako Meshi! :) Do not be fooled by this little ceramic jar. It's packed with boiled octopus, conger eels, veg & flavoured rice. :)
Mom liked it! :) We couldn't bear to throw away the pot and had it cleaned and brought it home with us. :)
Can you guess what this is? :)))
It's Beanie's Kakinoha-zushi (mackerel zushi). The mackerel sushi are individually wrapped with persimmon leaves. The leaves are for antibacterial purpose and not to be eaten. :)
Lin & I shared a box of beef & pork ekiben. :)
Ready to roll again. :) Getting cable car tickets for the ride to Yoshinoyama Station. :)
Did we mention this is the oldest cable car in Japan? :))) Lin is petrified.
Phiff! Stubborn rain. :(
We needed a respite from the rain! :) There are lots of cafes and restaurants around Yoshinoyama & Cafe Kitan caught our fancy. :D
We love the woody interior. :)
Mom's perk me up! :D
Happiness is a cup of soft serve :)
Japanese milk tea :) Fragrant & light. :) My cup of tea. :))))
Our legs are giving way soon...heading back to the city! :)
Famish & ready for dinner...
