The Laughing Lotus Inn (怡莲阁) would be an ideal accomodation if there wasn't any renovation next door & everywhere within the old town. We had to shorten our stay from two days to one day in Dali. :( The owner Cui Cui Ma told us their business has been badly affected. We can empathized with her...
We lugged our luggages up a flight of stairs to our rooms. Aren't we smart to travel light.? :) The corridor is narrow, the ceilings are low & the lights are dim. But this is the essence of traditional Dali wooden houses. :) It did feel like we were in some Chinese epic movie & we were some wandering swordswomen having to put up a nite at an inn (客栈).
Anyway, take a look at our rooms. :)
Ann & Tina stayed in the room on the left (Kongzi room), while Lin & I took the one right ahead (Laozi room).
Ann & Tina's room was small but the bathroom was huge (my pic showed only half of it)
Our room was huge as compared to Ann & Tina's. And we had 2 sided views.
Our view in the morning. :) And there is snow capped Cangshan.
Our bathroom was pathetically tiny...when you sit on the toilet bowl, you would kiss the wall...and the shaving mirror doubled as a shelf to hold our toiletries...the consolation, there was hot water for a hot bath. :) I couldn't ask for more.
Little things around the room. :) Btw, the rooms do not have TV but free Wi-fi is available. ;)
A pic of us in front of Laughing Lotus Inn. We've been here. :)
