Quick Lunch at Dapao

Met up with Victoria, Hoa, Rose & Jamie for a quick lunch at Dapao. Why were we there? Well, Allison, our gf just started work as a pastry chef at Dapao. :) Good enough reason eh? We needed to show our support! Woohoo!!! :D

We love Dapao's Singapore & Southeast Asia inspired wraps. We tried the black pepper chicken wrap which was pretty good. I would return to try their nasi lemak wrap soon. ^.*

Who can resist these salads in tiny takeout boxes? Absolutely cute! :) We had vermicilli salad with peanut and spinach & pumpkin. :) Lovely.

Oh Dapoa is an eco-friendly takeaway restaurant. :) The cutlery & cups are made from corn. Yes you heard it right. CORN! :)

As for the drinks, Victoria tried the lemongrass pandan while the rest of us had lemon-lime mint & ginger...sour... *.*

And the MUST TRY has gotta be the cakes made with love. Allison's babies. We tried chocolate banana cake. Nice & with fudgy chocolates in them. :)

I like the random display of herbs on every table. :) Minimalist chic! :)

Rewinding to 1960s

We followed Grandmom, mom, beanie & 大姨 on a walk down memory lane to the good old days of 1906s. :) It was a nostaglic food trail...

with strong Singapore flavours. :)

We were awed by huge & bouncy fishballs. :)

There were 5 fishballs, each of us had one. 大姨 opted out as she's not a fan of them. :)

We shared a bit of everything: bbq stingrays,

satays,

bbq chicken wings,

fried hokkien mee,

satay bee hoon,

and Ngoh Hiang. :)

There's always room for drinks & desserts! :D Mom needed her coffee fix.

Grandmom was in the mood for Coca-cola. :) Don't you love the gummy colours of the drink stall! :D

Coca-Cola in classic bottle and it tasted better in enamel mugs! Wahahahha! :D

Check out the dessert stall. ^.*

Mom's still coughing so Beanie got her hot cheng teng for dessert. :)

And the rest of us shared an ice ball. :)

We could still manage some kacang puteh. :D

Our selection, sugar coated peanuts. :)

The antique corner certainly brought back memories for the older generation. How time flies. :)

Weekday Lunch At Domani

Set lunch from SGD 10.90? That sounds like a fantastic value meal. :)

The value equation is as such: Main Course + Soup of the Day + Choice of Drink

The soup of the day was cream of broccoli. Passable. :)

Lin opted for tomato cream seafood linguine. No mussels please. Instead of replacing the mussels with another prawn, they gave her more squids. *.*

I had petit platter which consisted of spinach & ham linguine with cream sauce, garlic bread, deep fried prawn, smoked salmon bruschetta & marinated octopus. I requested  to have the smoked salmon bruschetta and marinated octopus replaced with buttered mushrooms bruschetta. :) Happy with my selection. :)

We love value meals. :) Don't you?

Black

Went to Black this afternoon. It's a laid back coffee place with retro furniture & fixtures. I miss Agnes B Cafe's ice chocolate and since we don't have Agnes B Cafe here, I went for Black's Valrhona Chocolate Blend. It was kind of heavy. Pauline had ice Mocha which she claimed was very good. :) The waffle with vanilla ice cream was .... nothing to rave about at all. :/

Black's alright for a quick cuppa. :) But for a more wholesome afternoon chillout experience with great food, Black still has some way to go.

The Prawn & The Fish

Beanie came home from the wet market with fresh succulent prawns & fish. I jumped on the opportunity to try out a recipe I digged from somewhere, sometime ago. :)

Ingredient
200g white fish fillet
200g prawns
4-5 water chestnuts
Dry beancurd sheets

Flour Paste
1 tbsp flour
1/2 tbsp cold water

Seasoning
1 tbsp chopped parsley
1 tsp chopped ginger
2 tbsp egg white
1/3 tsp salt
1 tsp wine
2 tbsp corn starch
1/4 tsp black pepper

Method
Mince the fish & dice the prawns, add water chestnuts & seasonings and set aside for 30 mins
Place the mixture on one end of the beancurd wrapper, roll it tightly and fold in the two ends with flour paste
Fry the roll

Done! The prawn & fish roll tastes good on its own or with sweet orange sauce. :)

Celebrating Wendy's Birthday at Togi Korean Restaurant

Wendy turns XX! Welcome to our club! ^.* We felt she doesn't lack anything and so we presented her with a bouquet of Hyacinthus & Viburnum. :) As for dinner, it's at Togi Korean Restaurant. (Wendy said she hasn't eaten Korean food for a while). :)

Togi doesn't accept reservation & adopts a "First Come First Serve" policy. And so the b'day gal and I were there at 6pm to get a table. We didn't had to queue cos we were early. Yeah! :) The other girls arrived late & we could only stare at what's in front of us. : I

Tina, Lin & Angie must be irritated with my persistant whatsapping. Lol! :))) Wendy and I were ready to start as soon as Tina arrives cos it meant attendance is more than 50%?

A glimpse of what we had. :) We ordered too much soup: soondubu, ginseng chicken soup & kimchi hotpot with ramen & sausages.

There was too much carbo too??? Kimchi fried rice, kimchi pancake and rice cake (I just realized I forgot to take a pic of the delish rice cake... : I ) The rice cakes came with hard boiled eggs & dumplings. Yum...What a scatter-brained...

The bulgogi (stir-fried beef) well went with steamed rice. Btw, in addition to kimchi fried rice, Angie had a bowl of steamed rice on her own! : O So much for trying to lose weight. Well I guess she's deprived. And it was her first outing with her gfs since confinment. :)

Roasted pork belly hardly goes wrong. :)

We adjourned to Wendy's humble abode to chill. Thank goodness Tina only bought a slice of cake. Anything more than that was beyond us! Lol! :)))

Blessed b'day our dear gf! ^.^

Oh and here's a pic of the lovely blooms for Wendy. :)
