Day 4: We are in a Korean Drama

Day 4 in Seoul today & Tina, Wendy and I are doing breakfast at Bonjuk. Lin's under the weather, Angie & Isaac are still in bed. :) We did some shopping prior to breakfast as someone we asked for direction from told us Bonjuk opens at 10am...

Bonjuk's crab meat porridge was an unanimous choice. :D

The sides that came with our porridge. :)

Oh my! We could have shared! *.*

The porridge is tasty & very filling because of it's sticky texture. Wendy couldn't finish hers while we took a while to finish ours. :)))

Lin called halfway through our breakfast and needed us to activate International SOS. The giddy pill Tina gave her earlier at 7ish am didn't work and her condition spiralled downwards.

This was what happened:
5ish am: Lin whined and I thought I slept over her side. I edged back to the side of the bed and continue sleeping. :)))
7ish am: Tina gave Lin med to stop the giddiness and she continued sleeping.
9am: Wendy, Tina & I went for breakfast and to bring some back for Lin, Angie & Isaac
10ish am: Lin called to activate International SOS. She wanted to get the doctor in to treat her. Meanwhile we called Angie to go over. Wendy went back to help Angie while Tina & I finished our porridge.
Angie changed Lin out of her PJ and was advised to call for an ambulance. But she decided we should just cab to the hospital instead as the ambulance woud have taken a longer time to arrive.
11ish am: L7 staff got us a wheelchair and Tina & I went with Lin to the hospital, leaving Angie, Wendy & Isaac behind.

The taxi ride was about 20mins but according to Shawn and Lixian who rushed over, the hospital was about 10mins by foot.

There were lots of repetitive explanation to do. And language is an issue. It did helped L7 staff was with us and International SOS Korea was in constant contact with us and the hospital staff. But some medical jargons are just difficult to translate. *.*

Lin felt better after 2 rounds of drips and wanted us to take her back to the hotel to rest, and we did.

God gave me the peace and calmness throughout this episode by surrounding us with Shawn, Lixian, Angie, Wendy, Tina, L7 staff, International SOS team, Ben, our family and carecell mates back home who were praying for us. I could still joked with Tina we were starring in a Korean drama. :)

We can't stress enough the importance of having International SOS insurance coverage for all travels either. In times of emergency, this makes a huge difference in getting timely treatment, which is a matter of life & death. With this coverage, we need not worry about upfront payments at the hospitals too.

After ensuring Lin is comfy in the hotel, we headed to E-Mart at Times Square for some retail therapy. Angie, Wendy & Isaac met us there. Again, no pics. By now, everyone was drained by the earlier episode. :)

Lin was feeling slightly better later in the evening. However she was still spining. Everyone of us were on high alert. Shawn, Lixian and I took her out for Budae Jigae at Nolboo. Wendy, Tina, Angie & Isaac had dinner on their own. I'm not sure what they had though. :)))

Budae jigae makes a fantastic dinner on a cold and rainy December nite. :) I wouldn't recommend eating it often as it has lots of processed meat such as spam, bacon and sausages. *.*

So yeah, it's a family dinner tonite. :))) The rain didn't deter us from shopping after dinner. Lin really wanted to make up for time loss earlier in the day. But we didn't push it too much, preferring to let her get more rest.

Day 6: Savouring the Ocean at Amimoto Honkan :)

Oh my oh my...dinner didn't come easy. We took a while before finding Amimoto Honkan. ;( Not good on a wet wet day. *.*

And yes, we are having kani for dinner! :D So feet, take heart. :)))

We were given a private room which erm... I didn't take a pic. :))) I was too engrossed with what's before me. :)

I was hoping the above was chawamushi....but it wasn't. :) It was chilled tofu with crab...

No prize for guessing right on the rest of the dishes. :)))

The crabby feast ended with our comfort food, porridge. Perfect for a rainy day. :)

What remains at the end of it all... ;) Amimoto Honkan emphasise on the freshness of its crabs. So fresh that every crab dish was served with minimum seasoning, allowing diners to savour the natural sweetness and flavours of the ocean. :)

I love when my meal ends with ice cream/sorbet. :)
