A Bowl of Ramen Please

There are times when all we want is a simple bowl of ramen in chicken broth. Nothing fanciful. Marutama Ra-men seems the obvious choice for our Sat dinner. :)

So here we have it. Qq ramen with pork slice, ajitama & lots of scallions in chicken broth. :)

And the side? Gyozas. :)

2nd B'day Brunch :)

Finally we get to see Pauline! My poor gf's overworked! *.* What better way than a slow Saturday brunch at Hummerstons. Plus pets are welcome. :D Woohoo!

Koka's super prepared for her day out! :) She brought with her a water bottle, feeding bowl, beaded leash (we adore this princessy leash from SF) and her cat cat meow meow.

I read so much about Hummerstons' pancakes with mixed berries, I just gotta try it. Smelt good, tasted great! They were soft & fluffy. It would be better if it's thicker? I missed the pancakes in SF...

The Hummerstons steak burger was pretty good. The steak, the bacon & the runny egg yolk...gosh...who cares about weight now? The homemade fries were kind of a let down though. They seemed to be soaked in oil...

Pauline still prefers Canopy's egg benedict. We too. :)

Pauline enjoyed her latte. :)

The coconut ice cream with dark choc & crushed nuts was a biggie. *.* I could only manage 1/3. Lin took two mouthful while Pauline didn't touch it at all. A smaller portion of sweets is preferred after a heavy meal. :)

We missed hanging out with Pauline. Hope work will ease a little for her in time to come! :)

Birthday Dinner at Mai Thai

It's Friday! Tonite, we are celebrating our b'day with Yvonne & Tommy and we opted for chilled suburban dining at Mai Thai, Greenwich V. :)

For starter, we had deep fried prawn cakes with plum sauce (Tod Mun Goong). One piece per person is just right. Anything more than that, it's kind of overwhelming.

We had more prawny stuff thereafter. :) Deep fried prawn rolls with Thai chilli sauce (Goong Hom Pha) and stir fried asparagus with prawns (Nor Mai Farang).

The classic tom yum goong was way to spicy for us!!! *.* Apparently we could tell the kitchen to go easy on the chilli...duh! We needed water after every sip of soup.

This helps...

We also tried the non-spicy beef shin soup. The beef were o-so tender.

Somehow when we stepped into a Thai restaurant, we always order Khao Pad Saparod (fried yellow rice with pineapple cubes, chicken meat, sausages, chicken floss & rasins). Delish but bothersome as we needed to pick the rasins out. :))) I would wanna try Thai olive rice, crabmeat rice or sticky rice the next time round.

We really like Mai Thai's red curry chicken (Panaeng Gai)! It looked spicy but tasted otherwise. :) This is our fav dish.

For desserts, we had boiled tapioca with creamy coconut milk (Mun Chearm). I must admit it was gooood. *.*

We shared a serving of mango sticky rice (Khao Niao Ma Muang) too. :) I dislike mangoes but I caved into the Thai glutinuous rice topped with coconut milk. Love love love. :) This is my all time fav Thai dessert, minus the mango. :)

Now, may I proudly present Tommy' & Yvonne's handmade pressie... :)

So much thoughts & effort has been put into it.

The google flip flops were from Muar. The beetles, creepy crawlies & nemos are actully gingko nuts painted by Tomy. How cute! :D The logs and sea shells were from some kelong and islands. (I can't remember the details. Tomy & Yvonne were so enthu, telling us the origin of each item.)

Tommy even penned a song and a poem! :)))

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnkkkkkk yooooooooooooooou for the pressie! :D

We should have done dinner by the beach! ;)

A Taste of Peking at Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck Restaurant

It's a nite of Peking duck with mom, beanie & 大姨. :) We're seated at table 23 on 23rd Feb 2012. :)))

The salted egg & ham slice was average. Nothing to shout about. The shredded chicken fen pi with peanut sauce was a tag dry. I'm gonna try to make these on my own. ;) The improved version that is. :D

These b'day buns were a mini surprise from the restaurant. Lol! :))) Look at these cute little rosy cheeks. :)

The crispy duck skin coated with sugar kicked start our ducky feast. *.* They make such a compatible couple. ;) The rest of the duck with some fats, spring onions, cucumber lazed with sweet sauce, wrapped in thin pancakes are just so delicious. :D Loving it!

Who's able to resist these silky tofu. We had tofu soup & braised tofu spinach with assorted mushrooms. These have got to be our fav. :)

The chef made us ducky fried rice from the remains of the peking duck. :) On top of that, we had a bowl of stewed noodles with preserved veg, bean sprouts & mushrooms. Totally stuffed...

Lin & I got ourselves a pretty fruitti chocolate cake, tarfuto from Cova! Blessed B'day to both of us! :)

Birthday Breakfast with Mom

Mom woke us up early for a simple bekkie at Toast Box. Nothing fanciful, but the usual half boiled eggs, toast, coffee, ice lemon tea & mee siam.

Simple & chilled start to our birthday! :)

B'day Celebration With Vic, Vanessa, Ally & Simon at Bibigo

I'm so happy today! Finally managed to do a sit down dinner with Vic, Vanaessa, Ally & Simon! We can't even remember clearly when was the last time we had dinner together??? Donovan's not able to make it though.

Vic's the person to go to when you wanna try something different & delish! I think she has a hidden list of places to go. :) So for this evening, we're at Bibigo.

We like the clean & fresh concept of Bibigo. Traditional Korean cusine made contemporary. :)

I love choices. Don't you? Bibigo allows us to customize our own bibimbap. :)

Lin and I chose the char-grilled bulgogi with black rice and Kohot & sesame oil sauce. Awesome! :)

Vanessa opted for tofu bibimbap while Vic chose chicken bibimbap. :)

We found the soondubu average but Ally gave a thumbs up for the Ginseng chicken soup. :)

For the sides, we had crispy chicken & seafood pancake. We heart the pancake. Unlike other places, Bibigo's pancake has more veg than flour! :D I'm so inspired to create these minimum flour pancakes on my own!

So now you know who's the alcoholic...:))) Doesn't it remind you of milk? :) It's rice wine by the way. :)

Vanessa further sweeten our nite with b'day cupcakes from Dessert Cup. Too pretty to be eaten...

I'm already looking foward to our next dinner. Hopefully it will not be too far away. ;)

A Speechless Birthday Celebration *.*

I'm speechless for this birthday celebration! *.* I've lost my voice! But it's not dampening my celebration...no...no. I continue to feast with Lin, Mom, Beanie & dearest cousins, niece & nephew. :D

Minced pork porridge stepped aside for this fabulous & more flavourful feast!

We love satays. There's a selection of duck, chicken & pork! Take your pick!

There's also Kueh Pie Tee, which is turnip, eggs & prawns in crispy cups. Warning: once you start, you can't stop!

And laska :)

And here's our 2nd choc b'day cake & counting...

We weren't successful in our photos taking attempts with the little ones...

Look what our cousins got me! A Kate Spade Barrow Street pouch. Very timely as the one from Pauline has gotten too small for my extended family of nit nacks!

Not my colour, but I like the bow & the size. :)

So who's staying in there?

a) Kate Spade Barrow Street pouch itself
b) Keys to my Peugeot 3008
c) Hello Kitty keychain with keys to my house. Her limbs are movable! Cute eh? Shawn laughs at it because he thinks it's too big for a keychain holder. The good thing is I can't misplace it so easily. I'm actually more concern about losing my Hello Kitty keychain than the keys! :)))
d) Access pass to the house
e) Rilakkuma power charger
f) Cable for the charger. I used a mini hair clip to hold the cable together.
g) Various heads for the charger. One for iPhone & the other Nokia.

Thank you Grace, Benny, Yahui, Charlotte, Shawn, Lydia & Lixian for celebrating our birthday with us. I love the present (Lin has yet to get hers), and we love your company better! :D Hugs...

Birthday Brunch at Canopy

Ed's b'day falls on 21st. Lin & mine fall on 23rd. :) And so we have an early b'day celebration brunch at Canopy. :) We favor smaller intimate meals with close friends over big parties now. :))) It has gotta to be age eh?

Canopy has an extensive all day dining menu. Our choice for Saturday brunch:

Egg benedict

Crabmeat pasta

Triple mini burger sampler

Green curry chicken pasta

and for Koka...

Tina bought us a tiny sinful choc cake from Bakerzin. :D The size is just right after a heavy meal. :) She wanted to get a 1-2kg cake initially. *.*

The rain didn't bother us. :) In fact it made us lingered a little longer. :) And so our brunch lasted about 3.5 hours...

On a seperate note, I now developed a soft spot for 3D cards. Look what Wendy & Tina gave us! I heart them! :D
