Finger Licking Good at Okkudak! :)

Wednesday nite made tasty with RICE flour chicken at Okkudak, a Korean chicken bistro. Seemed like something Lin & I can managed. We need to go for our Hashimoto test in 2 weeks time. *.*

Our ranking of the chicken we tried tonite:

#1 - Sauce Chicken :) Wonderful burst of flavors. :)))

#2 - Fried Rice Chicken...fingers licking good. :)

#3 - Roasted Chicken feels very home cooked. :)))

Kimchi Jigae to spice up our nite. :)

I'm sure some of you might know what it is to be deprived of the freedom to eat whatever we desire. :))) Hence to stumble upon Okkudak is such a thrill. It might not be 100% safe for the both of us to consume as we do not know what goes into the full preparation of the food. Nonetheless it's still a safer alternative to fast food fried chickens. :)

Our achievement :)))

Cheers to our new find! :D

Wendy's Birthday at Super Star K :)

Wendy's the b'day star & we held a mini celebration for her at Super Star K. ;)

This place was packed on a Saturday nite and because no reservation on weekends, Tina started queuing at 6pm.

A glace at our feasting table. :)

Each of us had our own canteen-liked tray/plate, which I thought was pretty cool. :) When we were kids, mom gave us compartmentalize plastic plates too. ;)

Again as in most Korean restaurants, there were plenty of side dishes. :)

We had 2 rounds of BBQ platter, consisting of beef & pork. :D

Seafood pancake

Kimchi Jigae, Ginseng Chicken Soup & Soondubu

Flor Patisserie ran out of whole cakes and we had to settle for a slice of strawberry cake for our b'day star instead. :) Which was just as well...we were too full to stuff in anymore cakes. :D

I wish for our gf:
Good health
Good work, life balance
Loving hubby & family and
Everything that makes her happy! :D
Blessed B'day Wendy! :)

Cyclicious Saturday?

We were off cycling this Sat again! Where else but Punggol Waterway Park. :)

Our cycling mates ;)

Food is always our source of motivation to cycle. We checked out Hanwoori Korean Restaurant this evening. :)

Hanwoori is opened by two Korean sisters. :)

Pretty wallpaper with verses from Psalm 23.

The flavourful beef short ribs were grilled to perfection. Wrapping them in fresh veg gave them the extra crunch. :)

I can't helping loving this seafood pancakes. The batter was light and filled with squids, prawns and spring onions. :)

Lin wanted Kimchi hotpot which I found average. I was actually craving for Soondubu... :(
Anyway in the kimchi hotpot, there were dumpings, prawns, squids assorted mushrooms, bits of pork, tofu & kimchi. I would heart it more if there are sausages. Sadly, none at all. :( Lin insisted we shared a bowl of rice cos she said kimchi hotpot should be eaten with rice...

Wendy and Tina didn't wanna have too much cos they wanted to save tummy space for desserts. ;) But hey hey, there were lots of side dishes to finish up too! :D

A much needed citron tea! :D

We were happy with the homely dinner! :)

On the left of Hanwoori is Dessert Bowl. :)

It's impossible to miss the shop with the distinctive yellow signages!

Cute model displays in a dessert shop. :)

The standard of the desserts seemed to have drop... *.*

This has gotta be the worst waffle we have eaten. :~( We left it untouched but ate the ice cream and the fruits.

We should have ordered another dish at Hanwoori instead of having desserts. *.* Cyclicious Sat? I guess so, for the dinner at least. :)

Kimchi Jigae, The Way We Like It ;)

I'm not a fantastic cook. :) And I'm happy there are certain dishes I cooked that Lin really likes. One of them , Kimchi Jigae. ;) I got the recipe from the Internet years ago, but have simplified it over time. :)

The original recipe calls for stir-frying of pork with sesame oil, chilli paste and garlic as the first step. I on the other hand, prefer to add the pork slices last. This is because I use pork belly shabu shabu. We like our Kimchi Jigae with lots of ingredients. :D

Lin requested Kimchi Jigae for dinner last evening. ;) And so I cooked a pot for our mom, dad & gfs.

Ingredients (serves 6-8):
1.2kg kimchi
1 radish
1 green onion
1 leek
400g of enoki mushrooms
Shabu shabu pork belly
Sausages
Luncheon meat
2 blocks of silken tofu
1 tablespoon Korean chilli paste (you may add more if you like the extra kick)
1/2 tablespoon Korean chilli powder (you may adjust to suit your threshold for spiciness)
1 garlic (minced)
A dash of pepper
2 teaspoon of soy sauce
5 cups of water

The 3 essentials. ;)

I dumped alot of radish into our Kimchi Jigae so that Lin could eat till her heart's content! :)

I love tofus. So it's a must have have my Kimchi Jigae. :)

In a pot, bring the kimchi with its liquid, green onion, leek, garlic, radish & water to a boil over medium-high heat. Add the Korean chilli paste, powder, soy sauce & pepper. Reduce the heat and simmer. Add the enoki. Once the radish is soften, add the sausages, luncheon meat and tofu. Lastly, add the pork belly shabu shabu. Be careful not to overcook the pork belly. Keeping all ingredients in the pot, serve the pork belly seperately.

Serve the Kimchi Jigae over steamed rice or Korean ramen. A complete meal is done. ;) Enjoy!
