Mookata ;)

Our mundane Tuesday was spiced up with Wendy over Mookata at Tom Yum Kungfu. Mookata = Thai steamboat. :D Food cooked over charcoal seems to taste better? :)

Other add-ons: Pineapple rice

Green curry chicken

We love all types of steamboat and bbq. It didn't matter we smelt at the end of the session as it was end of the day! :) Time for a good scrub!

On a side note: If Tom Yum Kungfu serves Thai desserts, our dinner would have been more complete. ;)

Simple Thai Fare at Nara Thai :)

This evening, Yvonne & Tommy treated us to a simple but delectable dinner at Nara Thai. :)

Being newbies here, we selected assorted Nara’s Hors d’oeuvre just to try a bit of everything. :)

Thai Mango Salad for all but moi. :)

Tom Yum Kung - river prawns in spicy lemongrass and lime soup was titillating.

The Crab Meat Omlette looks plain but it's actually my fav. :)

There were two misses though. The Green Curry Chicken was a little disappointing as the chicken fillets were a little tough. *.*

The Stir-Fried Morning Glory was a little too salty.

Still, I enjoyed my dinner on the whole. :)

I would love to have the lime juice with grass jelly Lin was having if I wasn't coughing. :(

Sweet things need to be shared. :)

Mango glutinous rice (I heart sticky rice, not the mangoes)

Tapioca drizzled with coconut milk

Thank you Yvonne & Tommy for the b'day treat. :)

A Spicy Celebration for 大姨 :)

How do you spice up a birthday celebration? :) We did it at Mai Thai Restaurant...less than 10 mins drive from home. ;)

Big aunty was the b'day gal! :D

The 5 of us savored 10 dishes in total:
Thai Fishcakes and Tom Yum Goong (spicy...)

Green Curry Chicken (my fav), Mai Thai Beef Panaeng and Grilled Pork

Pineapple Rice, Pad Thai

Basil Tofu, Boiled Veg (with dip that rendered Lin & big aunt speechless & mom tearing) and Mango Sticky Rice

Our palettes & lips were exploding by the end of the dinner...

Something chilled & sweet would be greatly appreciated...and we hopped next door to get an Awfully Chocolate cake for Big aunt. ;)

Big aunty has been showering Lin & I with love & support from as young as we can remember. And she dotes on Koka too! Praise God for this blessings. :)

Koka should have kissed the b'day gal instead! :)))

Thursday Dining Out with Wendy & Tina

Our Thurs' dinner was hot, hot, hot!

Green Curry Laksa with Chicken & Potatoes, Clear Tom Yum Seafood Flat Noodles & Red Tom Yum Seafood Flat Noodles.

Tina gave up on it after a few mouthful... :)))

The Tom Yum Chicken Wings were wiped out though! :D

Drinks & desserts were at Coffee Club.

Muddy Mud Pie - shrink, shrank, STRUNK! *.*

Tina had Strawberry Smoothie, Wendy & I had Ice Chocolate Blend. :D

Lin opted for a seemingly less fattening Strawberry & Lychee Soda! Eh! :)

Birthday Dinner at Mai Thai

It's Friday! Tonite, we are celebrating our b'day with Yvonne & Tommy and we opted for chilled suburban dining at Mai Thai, Greenwich V. :)

For starter, we had deep fried prawn cakes with plum sauce (Tod Mun Goong). One piece per person is just right. Anything more than that, it's kind of overwhelming.

We had more prawny stuff thereafter. :) Deep fried prawn rolls with Thai chilli sauce (Goong Hom Pha) and stir fried asparagus with prawns (Nor Mai Farang).

The classic tom yum goong was way to spicy for us!!! *.* Apparently we could tell the kitchen to go easy on the chilli...duh! We needed water after every sip of soup.

This helps...

We also tried the non-spicy beef shin soup. The beef were o-so tender.

Somehow when we stepped into a Thai restaurant, we always order Khao Pad Saparod (fried yellow rice with pineapple cubes, chicken meat, sausages, chicken floss & rasins). Delish but bothersome as we needed to pick the rasins out. :))) I would wanna try Thai olive rice, crabmeat rice or sticky rice the next time round.

We really like Mai Thai's red curry chicken (Panaeng Gai)! It looked spicy but tasted otherwise. :) This is our fav dish.

For desserts, we had boiled tapioca with creamy coconut milk (Mun Chearm). I must admit it was gooood. *.*

We shared a serving of mango sticky rice (Khao Niao Ma Muang) too. :) I dislike mangoes but I caved into the Thai glutinuous rice topped with coconut milk. Love love love. :) This is my all time fav Thai dessert, minus the mango. :)

Now, may I proudly present Tommy' & Yvonne's handmade pressie... :)

So much thoughts & effort has been put into it.

The google flip flops were from Muar. The beetles, creepy crawlies & nemos are actully gingko nuts painted by Tomy. How cute! :D The logs and sea shells were from some kelong and islands. (I can't remember the details. Tomy & Yvonne were so enthu, telling us the origin of each item.)

Tommy even penned a song and a poem! :)))

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnkkkkkk yooooooooooooooou for the pressie! :D

We should have done dinner by the beach! ;)

Experiencing Thai at Marnee

We did Thai tonite at Marnee. :) This place is recommended by the Michelin Guide 2011. We got a table even though we didn't have a reservation. ;) Nice!

Crystal's co-worker joined us for dinner. Because he's a vegan, we ordered a Veggie Tom Yum soup. We were silently wishing there were shrimps swimming in it! :)))

It's good we didn't have to share the other dishes with him. :) So we had green curry chicken! Yeah!

And we had stirred fried beef. :D Very tender & flavourful.

I was expecting the pineapple rice to be served in pineapple shell but no, it came in a plate. :))) There were many shrimps in it! It's a little sweet due to the onions.

Marnee serves really good mango sticky rice. Yummmmm... *.*

The coconut ice cream was a little disappointing though. Firstly we didn't think coconut ice cream & cashew nuts to be a perfect match. Peanuts would be a better choice. Secondly, though there were coconut flesh in it, it wasn't that flavourful somehow. Thirdly the ice cream was a tad heavy.

We were stuffed at the end of it all. :) Marnee satisfied our crave for Asian cuisine. :D
