Birthday Dinner at Mai Thai

It's Friday! Tonite, we are celebrating our b'day with Yvonne & Tommy and we opted for chilled suburban dining at Mai Thai, Greenwich V. :)

For starter, we had deep fried prawn cakes with plum sauce (Tod Mun Goong). One piece per person is just right. Anything more than that, it's kind of overwhelming.

We had more prawny stuff thereafter. :) Deep fried prawn rolls with Thai chilli sauce (Goong Hom Pha) and stir fried asparagus with prawns (Nor Mai Farang).

The classic tom yum goong was way to spicy for us!!! *.* Apparently we could tell the kitchen to go easy on the chilli...duh! We needed water after every sip of soup.

This helps...

We also tried the non-spicy beef shin soup. The beef were o-so tender.

Somehow when we stepped into a Thai restaurant, we always order Khao Pad Saparod (fried yellow rice with pineapple cubes, chicken meat, sausages, chicken floss & rasins). Delish but bothersome as we needed to pick the rasins out. :))) I would wanna try Thai olive rice, crabmeat rice or sticky rice the next time round.

We really like Mai Thai's red curry chicken (Panaeng Gai)! It looked spicy but tasted otherwise. :) This is our fav dish.

For desserts, we had boiled tapioca with creamy coconut milk (Mun Chearm). I must admit it was gooood. *.*

We shared a serving of mango sticky rice (Khao Niao Ma Muang) too. :) I dislike mangoes but I caved into the Thai glutinuous rice topped with coconut milk. Love love love. :) This is my all time fav Thai dessert, minus the mango. :)

Now, may I proudly present Tommy' & Yvonne's handmade pressie... :)

So much thoughts & effort has been put into it.

The google flip flops were from Muar. The beetles, creepy crawlies & nemos are actully gingko nuts painted by Tomy. How cute! :D The logs and sea shells were from some kelong and islands. (I can't remember the details. Tomy & Yvonne were so enthu, telling us the origin of each item.)

Tommy even penned a song and a poem! :)))

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnkkkkkk yooooooooooooooou for the pressie! :D

We should have done dinner by the beach! ;)
