Day 1: Cousins' Summer Drive Away

Taking a red eye flight at our age isn't a joke...we had to walk to stay awake, if it helped at all. :))) This summer, we cousins are exploring Hokkaido. We picked up our car at Chitose Airport Poplar Shop and arrived in Sapporo city slightly after lunch.

We took Charlotte and Lydia to Ramen Alley for some comforting bowls of ramen. :) There are many ramen stalls in this alley and we just picked one we fancied. It's called Ichikura.

For corn lovers...

Beer & ramen... :D

I love checking out floral shops wherever we go. :D It makes me happy.

Our stamina for the first day of our summer vacay puts us to shame!  :))) We checked into a random bookstore for a cuppa. :)

And after which, we went in search of kani (crabs)! We are in Hokkaido afterall! :D

We ended up at Hokkaido Kani Shogun Sapporo Honten.

First, sake... ;)

And finally crabs! :D

We love hotpots! :D Look at all the crabby goodness in one pot. :)))

Crab congee tastes so good!!!

That's about our first day in Sapporo. :) We didn't seem to do much but filling up our bellies. :)

Day 2: Mt Emei...

We got up real early this morning to catch a short cruise to see Leshan Giant Buddha. Honestly I'm not sure what to expect. :)

The reason we are taking the boat ride is because we don't wanna climb these stairs! :)))

We get a clear pic of the Buddha from the boat. Hahahaha :))) The Giant Buddha of Leshan is carved out of a hillside during the Tang Dynasty, in year 713, by a monk Hai Tong. It was completed by his disciples in 803. The Buddha has 1,021 buns in his coiled hair. It overlooks the confluence of 3 rivers, Min, Qingyi and Dadu. At 71m, it is the largest Buddha in the world. It was awarded a UNESCO Heritage Site in December 2006.

Next stop was Mt Emei. :) We stopped by Zhao Ji You Tang Tian Pi Ya (赵记油烫甜皮鸭) to pack some crispy sweet duck to add to our rice boxes. :) These would be our lunch today. ;)

Crispy sweet duck is actually roasted sugar coated duck :)

Our chauffeur dropped us the foot of Mt Emei to check out some scenic spots. Honestly, I'm not sure what we are seeing. :)))

This place has quite a number of temples. For non-worshippers,  photography may be the only activity here. :)

It's a little tricky to get to Mt Emei. Our chauffeur needed to take us to a visitor centre to get a bus and a cable car ticket. There wasn't very clear instruction, so we were simply swimming our way through? *.*

Anyway this was our view at the cable car station. Btw, the cable car isn't the 4pax one. Rather it can accommodate more than 50 passengers at one go! *O* Ok...don't think too much lest our imaginations run wild.

Because of the snowfall, the floor was slippery. We purchased some spikes from the mountain vendors but it was still difficult to walk. The risk of slipping was high.

Highlight of the trip to Mt Emei was picnic! :))) The crispy sweet duck we bought earlier in the day was soooo yummy! And aren't we glad we brought along our own rice. :)))

Today seemed loooong...trying out another local Sichuanese restaurant called Zui Emei Xiang Cun Jia Yan(醉峨眉乡村家宴). I'm not having high hopes about the food here either. :)))

We need to make our choices carefully. :)))

The food serving here is humongous. *O* Nothing to our liking either....

May I pluck the moon for you. :)

Oh this corn juice is worth mentioning. :) It's pretty refreshing. :D
We took a few bites of the food we ordered and packed the bulk for our chauffeur. :)))

It's good to be back at Grand Hyatt...zzz
