Peking Duck for the Birthday Girl :)

Lin and I are sentimental beings. We treasure people around us very much. It's becos we had lost a few closed ones over the years. And partly becos it's diffcult to find close friends as we age. They are such rare gems. Tina is one of our precious gem. :)

This evening we celebrate Tina's birthday! :D An early celebration this year as Tina would be away for business trip and Angie would be in Niseko.

The birthday gal requested we do Chinese. :) Hence we went Peking. :))) Strangely, we have never eaten Peking duck together before. I wonder why? :))) Anyway we are going to savor it together tonite. :D

The first cut was to be eaten with sugar. :)

Yeah to soup! :) We had crab meat with winter melon soup.

Wendy requested for roasted pork. :D

Drunken prawns made tonite's dinner a less meaty affair. :D

Tofu with spinach and mushrooms balance our meal :)

Noodles are an essential during birthdays. We are pretty traditional in this aspect eh? :)))

We weren't planning to have desserts but the aroma of durian from one of the tables made us caved in for a bowl of durian pudding. :)))

Hehehe (rub my nose)...share the guilt. That's what friends are for. :)))

Wishing Tina a happy happy birthday, stay healthy and chirpy and may more fats come your way! ;)

Dumplings for Our Cousins, Wrapped with Love :)

Dumplings for our cousins, wrapped with love. :) Lin & I were over zealous and we made too many... :)))

Some pan fried ones...

Steamed grouper

Steamed pomfret

Charlotte & Shawn bought mom a birthday cake! An early celebration for her. :))) Plain looking cake? Nah...

The candle gave it an ultra sparkly boost

More importantly, it was filled with durian pulp. :)

A rather unsuccessful selfie. :) But Shawn looked good, so I'm posting it nonetheless. ;)

We polished off our Sunday indulgence with an ultra sour lemon sorbet. It got Charlotte's face all crinkled! Sorry guys, I added too much lemon juice. :))) Lol!

Savoring Fish Head Steamboat & ...

It's fish head hotpot with Rachel & Joo tonite at Whampoa Market. The stall doesn't have a name but it's impossible to miss it as it's the only stall that is opened in the evening and there are lots of people sitting around and savoring the fishy goodness. Dinner was really late at 8.45pm. The good thing about it was we didn't have to wait for 2 hours.

Fresh fish slices & flavorful soup :)

Our Friday nite ended with durians at Combat. :)

Summer Guests :) - Part 1

This summer, we were busy hosting important guests at our new residence. ;) Loved ones & friends who will help us create beautiful moments in our humble nest.

Godson came to play... :)

and to savour homemade dumplings. :)

Gwendel, Sharon & cousin Fanny hopped over for steaming hotpot. With air-condition switched on, the summer heat didn't really matter anymore. :)

Maternal grandmom, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews were treated to a buffet spread. :) Our clan is big huh? :))) Oh and our neighbours from our other residence. :D

Caterer: Raseal

We had Sheau Wen & Ling Lee over for DIY sushi making session. :D The sashimi were obviously bought while the messy stuff were done by us. :)

Our DIY session was completed with sake, sweet & juicy lychees from Taiwan and durians.

Happy guests & happy hosts. :)

For our other gfs & their families, we did a little French. ;) Crepes from Saybons! We love having freshly made crepes straight out from the crepe station. :D

Caterer: Saybons

Mom prepared chicken wings, Pauline brought durian puffs and Serena baked some really mean brownies which disappeared very quickly...

Casual gathering for fabulous friends :D

Some with their babies. :)

It's a blessing to have church friends over for fellowship. We did bible study over afternoon tea, followed by a Korean BBQ. :)

This summer, we also welcomed Crystal & Alan who flew in from San Francisco for a 20 hour visit. *.* Too short!

We tried to stuff them with as much local delicacies as we could. :)))

On top of their crazy itinerary, Crystal & Alan had to help us with decorating a church wedding. ;)

We are looking forward to hosting more loved ones & friends in August! :D
