A Taste of Xi'an

Thanks to Pu Miao & her hubby, Yun Ping, we had a taste of Xi'an this evening. ^.* They treated us to Xi'an cuisine at Yang Gui Feng Restaurant (羊贵妃).

We were impressed with the owner's attention to every detail in the restaurant. From oriental wallpaper, calligraphy and ornaments to menu (explanation of Xi'an's history & culture) to packaging of tissue packets. :)

The first dish we had was marinated meat in baked bun. The fillings were minced pork I think. It's advisable to share the bun, leaving room for other dishes.

Next up, beef tendons. Can't comment on this...didn't eat it. :)))

If you love potatoes, you will enjoy the stirred fried spiced chicken with potatoes. Lin & I did. :)

We were a little thrilled to see shredded potatoes as it reminded us of our vacations in China. But these shredded potatoes had vinegar addded to them. It wasn't that bad but we prefer it without vinegar.

We tried a tub of spicy fish fillet. Yun Ping requested for a milder version of the dish, just in case we can't take the spiciness. I like the tofus buried at the bottom of the tub. :)

We ended our dinner with lamb kebabs because it doesn't feel like we have tasted Xi'an without savoring lambs. Lambs dishes are Xi'an's specialities. Lin & I don't take lamb, but we managed one skewer each tonite. :)
